Our Journey, Our Mission
We as Journey openly embrace the multicultural elements of women from various aspects of life. We are committed to reinvigorating the personal and economic growth of our women by empowering them to action. We strive to embrace the culture of our community, the religion of our people, and the relationships amongst us. As we are reaching back, Journey is personally committed to the strengthening of us as black women while we stand on the Principle of Sankofa’!

The resolution of your inner spirit determines the outcome of your external happenings. Journey has decreed this year of 2017 to be our year, a year of Uninterrupted Journey. To be apologetic of your own personal growth is to be complicit in the destruction of a better you. The road to empowerment is one crowded with pitfalls, do not believe in the societal notion that if your road isn’t straight and easy then you’re doing something wrong. God has a preconceived plan for us, mysterious are his ways but omniscient are his motives. Journey in 2017 is the year of self-determination, the year of purpose, the year of empowerment, the year of negating apologetic actions and instead being unapologetically you.

Our Platform 2012- Current
The incessant evolution of our lives forces us to adapt in order to move forward and we are more than comfortable with change. Journey is now coaching and training our women in preparation for the management of our new Journey Resource Center. Our vision of a non-profit headquarters for journey was first conceptualized in 2012 and we are now able to operate on a larger scale in bettering the women in our communities. Health and fitness are two of our leading priorities to maintaining the bodies of our women. Life coaching is offered as we will continue to embrace organizations that hold similarly high standards and teach our youth about HIV, Aids, and Heart Disease. Journey is ready to grow and we are ready for you to grow with us.

Our lives are nothing without Christ. Because of Him we have Life. If we can’t do anything else we can take the time to fall on our face from 6:00-6:30 am each Friday and say “Thank You Father”. Please join the women of Journey as we praise and worship God with Women Nationwide. Our Prayers have been continuous since 2011 and ceasing that will never be on our agenda. Pray with us in 2017 in Love!

BLACK WOMEN IN HISTORY

January 1-31, 2017
Politics have overshadowed the start of the year and our country is in complete disarray but we can't retreat and allow the circumstances and pressures of life beat us up. Push forward to your mark of excellence and continue to be the striving force in your community and love the family and friends that surround you. Our nation will rise above the hypocrisy and we will do it together as women. Our President Donald J. Trump has to stay in our prayers and although we may not all agree with his principles and definitely not his policies but we must operate in one way and that’s in, “ Love” .

Introducing the Conspiracy Theory
Black Lives Matter
The murders of both African-American men and women were a common discussion on the nightly news, leaving 2015 with a damaged taint. We sat horror-struck as the unwarranted murders of our people by law enforcement became a daily occurrence. The deaths of blacks are seen as a minor inconvenience in our free nation, as those of a lower socio-economic stand place are viewed as expendable, being black just adds to the non-chalet-ness of the shootings. No longer do we smell strange fruit from southern trees, but the killings of blacks is conducted publicly, blatantly, often recorded for the world to see. The  smell of rotten police officers is the Rhythm of our Nation. What must be done for this to cease, what can be done? We must continue to forge the legacy of our ancestors and teach our children the importance of legal rights and respecting the law. We achieve emancipation through education, for it is an intelligent black race that they are truly afraid of. Why else was it outlawed to teach a slave how to read and write? Although the circumstances change, we still aren't allowed the privilege of dropping our 'weapon' and surrendering. Shoot first and be placed on paid administrative leave later is a common reoccurrence in recent years. Principles of negotiation are set aside, operation Kill a Black Man is set in motion. What will 2017 bring us and how will the Black Lives Matter movement progress? As of now, the BLM movement is ignored by everyone else unless they are black and that must change.

FEBRUARY HEART DISEASE MONTH 2017

Red Pump Project

The Red Pump Project™ raises awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic of our women. Our mission is to promote the prevention of HIV through education and to communicate the issues surrounding sexual and reproductive health. We conduct our awareness activities online and on the ground to encourage the flow of information between our organization and the people we seek to help. Knowledge of thyself is important and we are here to facilitate the growth of this knowledge.

Founded in March 2009 by Luvvie Ajayi and Karyn Watkins, Red Pump believes that if HIV affects one of us, it affects all of us. We use the red shoe as a symbol of empowerment to represent the strength and courage of women infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The incorporation of fashion into the message of HIV prevention is our way of showing that Awareness is Always in Style!™
National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is March 10th, and our country honors it by educating the youth, talking to them about HIV/AIDS, on a national scale. This is how The Red Pump Project was created. Borne of our desire to get the conversation started on the issue of HIV/AIDS so that one educated sister could talk to another. As we do this, we put out a call for bloggers to “Rock the Red Pump™”.

This is the beginning of our call to action:

National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is March 10, 2009. It’s nationwide initiative is to raise awareness of the increasing impact of HIV/AIDS on women and encourages the women in our communities to take action. While progress has definitely been made in the areas of AIDS prevention and treatment, women still represent 66% of all new AIDS diagnoses, with African-American women accounting for 42% of that group.

In observance of this day, Karyn of The Fabulous Giver and Luvvie of Awesomely Luvvie created the concept of The Red Pump Project. The idea is simple: Rock the Red Pump on your blog to represent the strength and courage of women fighting HIV/AIDS or those affected by the disease both directly and indirectly. We ask that on the day of awareness (March 10th), you embed the Red Pump Widget within your post with a short snippet of its significance, or you can rock the widget on your sidebar.

The Red Pump Project has grown from a social media campaign to a national nonprofit working on the ground and online to ensure that women are empowered with knowledge about HIV/AIDS and the issues surrounding it.

The Red Pump Project aims to:

  • Commemorate major awareness dates with various events or campaigns online and on the ground
  • Partner with organizations conducting work in HIV/AIDS in their initiatives and events around the country
  • Organize women nationwide to “Rock the Red Pump™” both online and on the ground
  • Be involved in getting 1,000 people tested across the country
  • Raise funds for HIV/AIDS service organizations

Let's fight for the availability and the affordability of medication for those living with HIV.

When we stop fighting for the right to survive, we  let go of everything we believe in. Each day women die with HIV and AIDS yet few care...Journey will fight to conquer this disease and to spread awareness of the empowered women of our communities......

 Journey President, Makresha M.Reneau
